Quad bike common sense

Dubbo Photo News - - Emergency report -

I’VE reported on far too many unnecessary deaths and serious injuries from quad bike incidents over the years to not be a fan of mandatory safety equipment, and finally the federal government has moved on this issue, announcing that crush protection is now mandatory for all quad bikes.

Existing bikes won’t be subject to the new rules which is a shame – if these rules had been put in place years ago, most of the quads running around now would be compliant.

In a sop to the powerful manufacturers, the government’s given them an incredible two years to ensure all their products comply with the new rules.

The feds are also asking all state and territory governments to look at increased safety measures when it comes to the use of quads.

Too little, way, way too late, but at last we’re moving on this one.
