New salon puts customers ahead

- By STEPH ALLEN

A NEW hair and beauty salon in Dubbo is offering clients all their grooming needs in one convenient place.

Luscious Hair and Beauty Shop opened at Orana Mall earlier this month, with owner Yasmin Campion saying the first week of operation had been a huge success.

“It’s been awesome. We’ve been absolutely flat out this week,” she said.

Mrs Campion, who has been in the beauty industry for 10 years, operated a salon in Wellington for eight years before working from home for the past 18 months.

She decided to make the move to the Dubbo shopping centre in a bid to continue growing her business.

“All my regulars have come across. We haven’t lost a single one. A lot of my client base is from Dubbo and (many) would travel to Wellington to get services done,” she said.

“(On my staff) I have Renee and Tara in hairdressing, and then there’s me, Jess, Layla and Ellie in beauty.

“We offer pretty much everything you can think of (bar facials and massage),” Mrs Campion said, listing a range of beauty and hair services.”

Mrs Campion had fortunately managed to stay afloat during the Covid-19 pandemic, only feeling the strain during the second lockdown.

“During the first lockdown I was still on maternity leave, which is part of the reason I closed my Wellington salon and worked from home,” she said.

“The second lockdown...that was a bit tough, but we got through it. It was only me at home and I was pretty lucky my husband was still working.

“We made it through alright.” Luscious Hair and Beauty Shop offers clients nearly everything they need in one place.

“They can get their hair, eyelashes and nails done in one spot. A lot of clients that came in this week were appreciative of that – they’re not having to find four different places,” Mrs Campion said.

“I’m very picky when it comes to services and the girls I have working for me have the eye I do and provide a really quality service.

“One of the biggest things I enjoy is being able to make people feel beautiful. The look on their faces when they get up and see the work – that’s a big thing for me and makes me feel appreciated and that I’ve done a good job.

“It’s something I enjoy doing and always wanted to do. The fact I’m still doing it and growing things as we go along has been good.”
