Leaderlife setting up at-risk kids for life
A NEW NSW Government Youth Opportunities grants program is helping young men who are at risk of falling through the cracks to grow.
Dubbo’s Leaderlife has been awarded $50,000 as part of the program for is Expanding the Impact: ‘Let’s Grow’ social enterprise, which will deliver on-thejob training to more young people at its Narromine lime farm.
The training is expected to help set up at-risk youths for success in life.
Member for Dubbo Dugald Saunders said the funding will enable Leaderlife to deliver skills across a broad range of industries including landscaping, maintenance, construction and farming.
“We know young people thrive when they have the opportunity to participate in programs tailored to their needs,” Mr Saunders said.
“This funding will enable Leaderlife to deliver (to) create a lasting impact and pathways to mainstream employment.
“This is exactly what the Youth Opportunities grants are designed for – supporting high-quality, youth-led projects which will help young people develop the talents and tools they need to reach their career and education goals.”
Founder and CEO Joh Leader said Leaderlife would partner and secure work contracts with local businesses to expand the areas it can deliver training beyond the lime farm.
“Leaderlife works tirelessly to reverse unsettling trends of early school-leaving, unemployment and youth incarceration,” Mrs Leader said.
“This project will provide the supports needed for young people to develop employability skills, manage their wellbeing, and chase their dreams, whether that’s living well, or becoming financially independent.”
