THE THUMBS
Thumbs Up and thank you to the wonderful caring staff and nurses at Lourdes Hospital on my recent stay to recover from my knee replacement surgery.
Thumbs Down to all levels of government who should be collaborating to fund a number of indoor basketball courts which meet the highest standards so we can host representative games in Dubbo.
'
Thumbs Down to our roads. I’ve travelled the Golden Highway quite regularly and noticed there’s no overtaking lane between Dubbo and Cassilis – that’s a 150km stretch of highway from a major regional city with not one overtaking lane. I can’t get an answer out of the local MP or any MP whose electorate it cuts through. Very frustrating as it has lots of potholes and not many opportunities to overtake.
Thumbs Up to all involved with Dubbo Christian School’s musical ‘Oliver!’ What an enormous success – such a wonderful production with so much talent and effort – tremendous entertainment!
Thumbs Up to Christie from the Department of Housing for her friendly and professional service, and for going above and beyond in helping me sort out a problem last week, thank you.
&
Thumbs Up to the volunteers of the Lavender Legends that help patients when they are staying in Lourdes Hospital with washing and freshening up flowers. Invaluable service.
'
Thumbs Down to Microsoft. Every time you upgrade your operating systems it becomes more complex and time consuming to use for no benefit to your customers.
Thumbs Down
to Sheraton Road and the dangers facing our kids on a daily basis. Who’s going to take responsibility if a child is injured in all that traffic? '
Thumbs Down to our politicians, current and in the past few decades. As a group you’ve made it certain that, for the first time in a couple of generations, we’ll be handing our children a world and lifestyle worse off than we received from our parents.
Thumbs Down
to Service NSW. As I was pulling in to park a man took the spot I’d been waiting for. Then, when I got into Service NSW, he entered after me yet was served much earlier than me. Why can’t it be fair, where it’s first-in, first-served?
Thumbs Up to the two men and one lady in Woolworths Riverdale who noted I wasn’t feeling well and asked me if I was okay after an experience I had earlier that day. They were very caring, and I appreciated their concern.
Thumbs Up to Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) for the installation and completion of the shared off road cycle trail along Hennessy Road. This off-road, shared trail enables cyclists, runners, walkers, families to use off-road paths from South Lakes to Macquarie Street. This then gives access to the wonderful Tracker Riley Cycleway along Margaret Crescent and around both sides of the river, as well as the zoo and West Dubbo. Thank you DRC – the new installation is already getting plenty of use.
Thumbs Up to the fact that there was a big write up (on) the candidates in Calare in Dubbo Photo News. As a resident from Wellington, I was very pleased to see (these) candidates put in the paper. As a senior, I have not seen any information on these candidates until now.
Thumbs Up to Carmel and Phil at the enchanting Lilli’s Polar Express Cafe – such a hidden gem in Dubbo. Great food, great hospitality. See you again soon.
Thumbs Down
to the pothole installation program around town. Our roads are getting far worse and it can’t all be blamed on the rain.
