Dubbo band releases debut single
LOCAL band Raptor County’s debut single “Colours of the Sky” will be launched at the Pastoral Hotel on Friday, September 23.
Vocalist and acoustic guitarist Clinton Hoy said the song has been released on Spotify and other streaming platforms for three weeks.
“The song has been streaming really well so far,” Mr Hoy told Dubbo Photo News.
“Usually, you get a huge hit on the first day, but our streams keep coming in.”
He acknowledged the negativity in the world over the past decade through social media and politics and focused on writing a song about people coming together.
“I want people to have each other’s back,” he said.
The band recorded the song in June and are excited it is finally available for the public.
“We had to sit on it patiently for a while,” he said
“A big part of waiting was putting everything together, including the artwork and promotional side of it.
“Being an independent band and doing it all yourself takes a bit of time.”
Mr Hoy is glad that the band finalised the product before making it available to wider audiences.
“I think a lot of people think once a song is out that the job is done, but in reality, it is only the beginning, especially when you don’t have a label behind you.”.
Mr Hoy shared the single is the best sounding piece the band has produced.
“We’re very proud of the single – it’s the best sounding thing that I’ve been involved with. We were very invested in quality sound control, so we went back and forth, five or six times to make it sound exactly how we wanted. Getting on the same page is very rare but exciting,” Mr Hoy said.
He said the response he the band has received from friends, family, and listeners has been great.
“There is a general surprise when someone you know creates something that sounds like it could be on the radio and has some quality to it,” he said.
The band will be playing alongside Killing Time at the Pastoral Hotel on Friday, September 23.
