Leica Geosystems has launched the new Disto X3 and X4 laser distance meters for construction sites
The Disto series of laser distance meters are specialist surveying tools for calculating distances and accurate to within one millimetre.
Equipped with a high-powered laser, the Disto units aim to make measuring out sites as quick and simple as possible.
The Disto X3 is designed primarily for indoor applications and has a certified range of up to 150 metres.
The Disto X4 has been engineered for both indoor and outdoor use and is equipped with a Pointfinder camera. This camera allows users to target distant objects in bright sunlight.
Even if the laser can’t be seen with the naked eye, the target will appear on the unit’s colour display. Both models have been ‘ruggedised’ and feature IP65-class dust and water protection. Leica says the units have been drop-tested and can withstand a fall of up to two metres.
Launching alongside the two laser measurement tools are the DST 360 adapter and the Disto Plan app. The DST 360 adapter turns the X3 and X4 into a complete point-to-point measurement system, able to calculate distance between any two points from one position.
Bringing all the data together is Leica’s new Disto Plan smartphone app, which can document and visualise the captured measurements. Objects can be briefly sketched by hand and then automatically scaled to the measurements stored.
“This trio of products – the Leica Disto X-series, Leica DST 360 adapter and Disto Plan app – is revolutionary because it offers the optimum solution for every user,” Leica Geosystems Disto program director Markus Hammerer says.
“Anything is possible – from simple distance measurement, P2P functionality to smart ways of documenting the measured data.”
