Safe street in the works
WORK on a safe active street in Whitfield Street in Bassendean will start early this year.
The Town of Bassendean approved a design last month for a corridor between Guildford Road and Sandy Beach Reserve for safe cycling and walking.
Pedestrians and cyclists will be able to travel to and from the reserve and Hawaiian’s Bassendean via the safe active street. There will be improvements to road crossings, upgraded signage and more landscaping.
The speed limit will drop to 30 km/h. The Department of Transport gave the Town $1.275 million for the project.
