Drug suspect in police chase
BEDFORD
A 35-year-old Morley man has been charged with drug possession and with trying to escape from police.
On January 1, police tried to stop a Holden Commodore on Hector Street, Tuart Hill.
The male driver did not stop and instead drove off, leading police on a chase through Tuart Hill, Yokine, Dianella, Bedford and Maylands. The pursuit ended on Guildford Road in Mt Lawley when the suspect turned right onto Walcott Street and crashed into the front fence of a house on the corner of Walcott and Farnley Street.
A dog in the car during the incident was not injured.
The man was charged with failure to comply with a direction to stop, reckless driving to escape a police pursuit, no authority to drive, possession of prohibited drugs including methylamphetamine and cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and a prohibited plant and breach of bail.
He appeared before Perth Magistrates Court on January 2 and was due to reappear via a video conference from Hakea Prison on January 16.
