Drug sus­pect in po­lice chase

A 35-year-old Mor­ley man has been charged with drug pos­ses­sion and with try­ing to es­cape from po­lice.

On Jan­uary 1, po­lice tried to stop a Holden Com­modore on Hec­tor Street, Tuart Hill.

The male driver did not stop and in­stead drove off, lead­ing po­lice on a chase through Tuart Hill, Yokine, Dianella, Bed­ford and May­lands. The pur­suit ended on Guild­ford Road in Mt Law­ley when the sus­pect turned right onto Wal­cott Street and crashed into the front fence of a house on the cor­ner of Wal­cott and Farn­ley Street.

A dog in the car dur­ing the in­ci­dent was not in­jured.

The man was charged with fail­ure to com­ply with a di­rec­tion to stop, reck­less driv­ing to es­cape a po­lice pur­suit, no au­thor­ity to drive, pos­ses­sion of pro­hib­ited drugs in­clud­ing methy­lam­phetamine and cannabis, pos­ses­sion of drug para­pher­na­lia and a pro­hib­ited plant and breach of bail.

He ap­peared be­fore Perth Mag­is­trates Court on Jan­uary 2 and was due to reap­pear via a video con­fer­ence from Hakea Prison on Jan­uary 16.
