THE City of Bayswater has installed solar panels at its civic centre as part of its bid to reach 100 per cent renewable energy by 2030.
Last month, 64 kilowatt solar panels were installed on the centre’s roof.
City buildings that have solar panels include The Rise in Maylands, Bayswater Waves and the works depot.
The panels reduce total energy costs by more than $ 100,00 and carbon emissions by 320 tonnes a year.
Mayor Dan Bull (pictured) said the City was keen to ensure everyday operations did not contribute to climate change.
He said the City would add an electric vehicle to the fleet this year.
