Woman, 79, as­saulted

A 79-year-old woman was as­saulted in her gar­den in East Perth last week.

She was wa­ter­ing the gar­den in the com­mu­nal gar­den area of an apart­ment com­plex on Goderich Street about 6.15pm on Jan­uary 6 when she was ap­proached by a 47-year-old woman. Po­lice al­lege the woman shouted abuse at the vic­tim be­fore she struck the 79year-old’s head with a beer bot­tle, caus­ing a deep lac­er­a­tion be­hind her ear.

The vic­tim fell to the ground and it is fur­ther al­leged the 47-year-old woman punched her sev­eral times to the head and body.

The vic­tim was taken to Royal Perth Hos­pi­tal for med­i­cal treat­ment.

The 47-year-old woman, of no fixed ad­dress, has been charged with un­law­ful as­sault with a cir­cum­stance of ag­gra­va­tion, tres­pass and as­sault­ing a pub­lic of­fi­cer. She was sched­uled to ap­pear in the Perth Mag­is­trates Court this week.
