Taste of the Swan Val­ley

THE best of the Swan Val­ley’s pro­duce was on of­fer in Perth ear­lier this month. Sup­ported by the State Govern­ment’s Buy West Eat Best ini­tia­tive, the cam­paign was the third Taste of WA event at Ya­gan Square to cel­e­brate key food re­gions. WA food am­bas­sador Don Hancey talked with Houghton Kitchen head chef Herb Faust, slow food chef Vin­cenzo Vel­letri, and Noon­gar El­der and bush food cook Dale Til­brook. The menu in­cluded slow­braised Dan­dara­gan beef with Houghton caber­net jus, an Asian-style glass noo­dle salad with Li­ly­dale free range chicken breast poached in Swan Val­ley verdelho, Fini olive oil and lemon myr­tle dress­ing, and a Swan Val­ley jar­rah honey mousse tart with lo­cal honey nougat crumb.
