RESIDENTS living in the Town of Bassendean are set to voice their views on the future of Bassendean at a shopfront on Old Perth Road as part of a community engagement process.

At the December 18 council meeting, Bassendean Council unanimously voted to endorse the project timeline to deliver a community and stakeholder engagement strategy.

Outcomes of the engagement strategy will contribute to the development of the Town’s local planning strategy. Funding for the strategy would be included in the 2018-19 budget review in February, with more funding to be allocated for leasing a shop-front and design models in the 201920 budget.

It is expected to cost between $80,000 and $140,000 to appoint a consultant team.

Officers are investigating vacant sites for the shopfront, which is proposed to be open for the community over a six-month period.

Completion is expected in October.
