SimCity2000 is fascinating. Here, the former urban planner and series fan casts a critical and humorous eye over 2000’ s mechanics. The option to use larger grids suits the ultimate MO of a real city planner, which is to reduce the amount of land given over to roads to reduce maintenance and increase property taxes. Meanwhile, shoving a coal plant in the corner of the map away from citizens might work in the game, but pulling this move in real life would certainly irritate the neighbouring municipality.
