In surely the least surprising of all the delay announcements this year, Activision Blizzard finally got around to confirming that this – and Overwatch 2, for that matter – will now launch later “than originally envisaged”, despite its reshuffled development teams having made “great strides towards completion”. Postponing both releases, the statement said, will “push out the financial uplift that we had expected to see next year”, which strongly suggests we won’t see them in 2022 either. That inevitably caused a sharp plunge in the company’s share price – though that’s just one of its various problems right now.
