FIGHT WITH PURPOSE
Littered among the standard fights, as well as the obligatory text events, you’ll find a few objective-based missions. These might task you with protecting a cowering ambassador who can be pushed and kicked out of danger’s way without taking damage, or taking down every member of a gang except the undercover informant, who is also attacking you so as not to blow their cover. These are technically optional, with bonus rewards for pulling them off (something every fight has – normally just a case of finishing in a set number of turns or killing enemies a certain way). Still, in these cases, it’s hard not to prioritise the mission, not least because – a bland ‘pick up the briefcase’ mission format aside – they are wonderfully characterful set-pieces.
