NIGHTMARE CREATURES

As a rule, the larger the lifeform in The Eternal Cylinder, the more disturbing its design. Indigenous beasts appear almost familiar yet impossibly alien; giraffe-like necks peel to reveal huge tongues, and great clamping molluscs hunt from beneath the sand. These are joined by the servants of the cylinder, Hieronymus Bosch-style hybrids of recognisably human parts and machinery. And what of the colossal snakes twisting down from the heavens? They’re all part of a hideously beautiful work.
