Kill or manicure

There are four types of magic: purple, red, blue and green, colour coded to represent the types of spell you use. As you’d expect, green spells harness the power of nature to heal and harm (one sprouts a crop of flowers that can fling nearby rocks at enemies) while blue varieties are waterbased. You can invest mana in upgrading these, and Frey’s gear also has an effect, the cloaks and necklaces she sports coming with various perks. She can strengthen spells further by painting her fingernails with different patterns, amplifying their effects using Break Shards – such as damage boosts based on the number of spells learned. Equippable buffs are hardly new in games, but at least this is an unusual variation on the theme.
