Frying Jelly is also working on RingRacer (above), a racing game inspired by Wipeout, UniRacers, rhythm games and skating sims. Players ride a winding metal rail, rotating freely around it as they pick up weapons and leap hazards. You can expect a mix of hand-designed and procedurally generated courses that react to your behaviour in unspecified ways. The tone might seem worlds away from 99 Fails, but as Pachniewski hints, there’s an overlapping interest in levels as grand metaphors. Each course is built around a concept, which “can be absolutely anything like infinity, singularities, or Egypt, or life and death. We will try to bring those concepts to life in the background and the way tracks are shaped. We really believe in holistic design.”
