DOGMA DAYS

-

In Flintlock’s world, the gods existed rather like our own for “thousands and thousands” of years – as a distant, unprovable, yet fervently worshipped influence on humanity. “No one knew where they were, but humans were left to their own devices to some degree, and they’d always been quite fantatical about their worship,” Bradley says. “Even though they were dogmatic, they had a pope-type character who was in control.” The sudden arrival of the gods, half a century before the game’s events, remains very much a live issue. On the one hand, “everything that everyone had been worshipping was validated”. But is it still faith if it requires no leap in order to believe?
