Questy Chess
An ageing chess program is about to be updated, but isn’t ready to give up its old code without a fight, and so gathers various pieces to eliminate the invading bytes of v2 before it can be overwritten. This puzzler asks you to negotiate gridbased environments with your chosen chess piece’s move set, avoiding (or preferably capturing) enemy pieces, and occasionally ‘terraforming’ (a rather grandiose way of describing a sliding-tile mechanic) as you make your way to the exit. It’s slow but quite compelling, with an unsettling atmosphere: think Michael Brough’s 868-HACK on Valium.
