Team spirit

You wouldn’t necessarily expect it of a sport where both sides are armed (not that you can shoot your rivals) but Hyper Gunsport is played in a good spirit, with the post-match trash talk between the teams tending towards the complimentary, convivial or just plain weird. There’s a light sprinkling of lore for each team (the UWSC duo are cybernetically enhanced while Blue Cambodia’s couple are proud to play without augmentation, and Scrapyard Squad faked their credentials to enter the tournament), but it never feels like it’s holding up the action. Rather, it provides a bit of extra character and narrative context for the eight-round Circuit mode – and a few amusing nonsequiturs at the end of a match.
