THE CRIME SERIES WE’D LIKE TO SEE

MANSON FAMILY MURDERS

There’s never been a TV adaptation of Charles Manson’s murderous spree told from the point of view of one of his “girls”, like Leslie Van Houten and Susan Atkins, who were drawn in by Manson’s New-age philosophy and ultimately committed crimes at his behest.

PATTY HEARST

The story of the 1974 kidnapping of heiress-turned-fugitive Hearst by a radical group called the Symbionese Liberation Army inspired a schlocky film in the ’80s, but we’d love to see a miniseries about this truly bizarre chain of events.

THE SOMERTON MAN

One of the most famous mysteries in Australian history, this case began in 1948 when an unidentified man was found dead on a beach in South Australia with a piece of paper that said “finished” in Persian in his pocket. At the time, there were rumours the man had been a Cold War spy.

GRISELDA BLANCO

Known as the “Black Widow”, Blanco was a Colombian drug lord who controlled the Miami cocaine drug trade and underworld during the ’70s and ’80s, an unusual position for a woman. It’s suspected that she ordered more than 200 murders in cartel conflicts.

DB COOPER

DB Cooper is the pseudonym for a man who, in 1971, hijacked a commercial plane in Oregon, US, and after threatening the plane crew with a bomb, demanded $200,000 and four parachutes. When the plane landed in Washington, Cooper collected his bribe and advised the crew to take flight once more. He jumped out of the plane and was never heard of again.
