Top perfumers reveal the fragrances they can’t live without.

The only fragrance I’ve worn so much that I’ve emptied one bottle after another is Les Infusions De Prada Iris. You have to smell it to understand it. The diffusion of it is polite and subtle. It’s very poetic in the way it surrounds a person, so you smell it easily, but it’s never in your face. It’s elegant, like a tender veil. And then there’s the lovely balance between freshness, woodiness and iris notes. It’s the fragrance that, if I meet someone who isn’t wearing perfume, I might say, “Oh, you should try this one.”

There’s no cliché to this fragrance. It’s different, yet timeless. It has a quality of memory to it. I’ve had a lot of people write to me about the fragrance and they’ve all expressed the same ideas – that it’s the smell of memories. That is beautiful, because we don’t have the same memories. Yet it somehow reminds you of things you love.
