THE SMELL OF A SPECIAL OCCASION

-

CLARA MOLLOY CO-FOUNDER AND CREATIVE DIRECTOR OF MEMO PARIS

I prefer to change scents with my moods, with the weather... And working in the perfume industry, I’m always wearing our next creations. Nothing can replace the skin – I have to wear each perfume and live with it in order to really know what I think about it. So my signature scent has really become wearing nothing at all. It’s like a rest from working. It feels very peaceful to keep fragrances away from my mind for a while, even if after a few days I miss it.

The scent of my skin without perfume actually has a soft fragrance of its own.

It’s been that way since I was a baby. It does change, though, such as when I eat a lot of sweets or carrots. When I smell a lot of perfumes and I need to give my nose a rest, I smell my naked skin so I forget all the other fragrances. Some people use coffee beans to have this effect. I prefer to smell my wrist. But I do have one exception to this rule – on St Patrick’s Day. On this day, I will always wear Irish Leather by Memo Paris. My husband is Irish and it’s my way of being almost Irish.
