Euroa’s time to Shine
Thousands to roll in for Australian National Show and Shine Euroa
EUROA will be buzzing this weekend as hundreds of cars, motorbikes, trucks and tractors, together with thousands of motoring enthusiasts, roll in for the Australian National Show and Shine Euroa.
The family event will fan out in the Seven Creeks Parks and town’s CBD this Sunday.
Strathbogie Shire Mayor Amanda McClaren said the showcase event, which has been running for 17 years, is estimated to inject nearly $800,000 directly into the local economy.
“Strathbogie Shire Council is very proud to sponsor a community-driven event that brings such significant economic benefits to the region,” she said.
“We encourage our community to continue to get behind this great event and congratulate organisers on its ongoing success.”
Ray Read, who has been involved in the organisation of the event for a long time, said last year’s show saw approximately 7000 people come through the gates.
“We are expecting an increase on this figure for the 2018 event due to the high number and quality of display vehicles that we will have on show,” Mr Read said.
John Teasdale, who took over the Euroa Motor Inn just over a year ago now, said people leaving from last year’s event just booked again for the same time next year.
“Accommodation is really in demand, being that it’s very limited in Euroa,” he said.
For long standing contributors to the event - Euroa Apex Club - this is a big weekend.
The team will be bringing their caravan to the day where they will be selling cold drinks and hot food.
Club secretary Alex Mackrell said it’s great to be able to be involved in the day and to make some mon- ey for the community.
“All the money we make on the day from selling food and drinks goes directly back in the community,” Mr Mackrell said.
“In previous years, we have used the money to donate things like a shower chair to Amaroo.
“The weekend is definitely one of our bigger money raisers.”
The Show and Shine weekend has brought in people from far and wide, with this weekend certainly all geared up to be no exception.
