GOLFERS played the qual­i­fy­ing round of the ‘Play 9’ com­pe­ti­tion last Satur­day and had a rea­son­able field con­sid­er­ing it was Grand Fi­nal day.

Eight men and six ladies played the nine hole stable­ford event and there were a cou­ple a great scores recorded.

Alex Smith had a blis­ter­ing 22 points to win the men’s event and that score in­cluded wipes on the first two holes.

David Ful­lager was the next in line with 19 points, and col­lected a ball along with Jared Smith on 18 points and Tim Bat­ten on 17.

Robin Lied had a ter­rific score of 21 points to eas­ily win the ladies com­pe­ti­tion.

Anne Burns, Lau­ris Tr­us­cott and Joyce White were ball win­ners.

It was great to wel­come Joyce back for a hit af­ter a long hia­tus.

A re­minder that the an­nual din­ner is this com­ing Satur­day, com­menc­ing with drinks at ap­prox­i­mately 6.30pm.

If you haven’t booked with Tim or Lyn then you had bet­ter do so as soon as pos­si­ble.

The AGM will be held at the club­house on Wed­nes­day, Oc­to­ber 11, com­menc­ing at 7.30.

All po­si­tions are va­cant and nom­i­na­tion forms are avail­able in the club­house.

Fi­nally, this is an early plug for the Mel­bourne Cup Cal­cutta, to be held on Mon­day, Novem­ber 5.

The cost is $80 per table which draws a horse and prize money is given for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and last.

A cold buf­fet tea will be avail­able from 6.00 pm and the Cal­cutta will com­mence at 7.30 pm.

Bill Shel­ton will once again be our MC/ Auc­tion­eer/Story Teller and a great night is guar­an­teed.

Run­ner up went to an in-form Lind­say Hall with a score that would win most par events card­ing plus four, beat­ing play­ing part­ner Wes Boyle on count back also with a plus four.

The near­est the pins went to Lind­say Hall on the 3rd, Alby Seenan driv­ing it close onto the 8th and Shaun Spicer claim­ing an­other near­est the pin in con­sec­u­tive weeks on the 16th.

Next week’s tee off time will change with day­light sav­ing, with sum­mer tee off times be­ing 8 to 8.30 am.

A stroke monthly medal is on of­fer with J. Ezard on of­fice duty and W. LeCerf in the bar. en way count back from Bill Levin­son, Des Phe­lan, Al­lan Labas, John Richards, Joe Labas and Ross Mur­ray.

Next week there will be a stroke event to be played on the front nine.

Golf next Satur­day is stroke, the monthly medal and the third round of the club cham­pi­onship.
