Ex­plore great art at Ruffy

RUFFY Art­fest is on again in Novem­ber this year.

Artists – and ev­ery­one in­ter­ested in art or lo­cal open gar­dens are in­vited to at­tend this year’s Ruffy Art­fest be­ing held in and around Ruffy in the Strath­bo­gie high­lands in Novem­ber – the week­end af­ter the Mel­bourne Cup.

This pop­u­lar week­end ex­hi­bi­tion, held ev­ery sec­ond year, will be­gin as usual with Open­ing Night on Fri­day, Novem­ber 9 and con­tinue on through Satur­day and con­clude on Sun­day Novem­ber 11.

Due to the in­creased num­ber of en­tries, all art­work is spread be­tween the Ruffy Hall, its gar­den and, the Ruffy CFA.

This gives peo­ple the op­portu- nity to com­fort­ably view the en­tire art­work col­lec­tion.

En­try to the Open­ing Night is $25 per per­son (ex­hibit­ing artists are free) and in­cludes beau­ti­ful gourmet nib­bles, drinks, live mu- sic and the op­por­tu­nity to meet the artists.

Pre­pay­ment can be made at the com­mu­nity web­site at www. ruffy­commu­nity.com.au/site/ruffy. art­fest/. Just fol­low the prompts. En­try to the art show dur­ing the week­end is $5 per per­son (chil­dren are free).

There are three tra­di­tional Open Gar­dens this year and, a spe­cial ad­di­tional op­por­tu­nity for chil­dren and adults who are young at heart and love an­i­mals, to visit Amelia Rise Don­keys, just down the road from one of the open gar­dens.

En­try to th­ese at­trac­tions is $15 pp (chil­dren are free).

The or­gan­is­ers are pleased to an­nounce that this year the prize money for art­work has in­creased to its high­est yet with first prize $750, sec­ond prize $500, third prize $250 as well as a pho­tog­ra­phy prize of $100 and a Peo­ple’s Choice Prize of $100 which will be named on the Sun­day af­ter­noon.

Art work­shops will also be held on the Satur­day and Sun­day, run by pro­fes­sional artists Leone Gabriel and Chris­tine West-Smith who will con­duct fig­ure draw­ing and paint­ing classes.
