Explore great art at Ruffy
RUFFY Artfest is on again in November this year.
Artists – and everyone interested in art or local open gardens are invited to attend this year’s Ruffy Artfest being held in and around Ruffy in the Strathbogie highlands in November – the weekend after the Melbourne Cup.
This popular weekend exhibition, held every second year, will begin as usual with Opening Night on Friday, November 9 and continue on through Saturday and conclude on Sunday November 11.
Due to the increased number of entries, all artwork is spread between the Ruffy Hall, its garden and, the Ruffy CFA.
This gives people the opportu- nity to comfortably view the entire artwork collection.
Entry to the Opening Night is $25 per person (exhibiting artists are free) and includes beautiful gourmet nibbles, drinks, live mu- sic and the opportunity to meet the artists.
Prepayment can be made at the community website at www. ruffycommunity.com.au/site/ruffy. artfest/. Just follow the prompts. Entry to the art show during the weekend is $5 per person (children are free).
There are three traditional Open Gardens this year and, a special additional opportunity for children and adults who are young at heart and love animals, to visit Amelia Rise Donkeys, just down the road from one of the open gardens.
Entry to these attractions is $15 pp (children are free).
The organisers are pleased to announce that this year the prize money for artwork has increased to its highest yet with first prize $750, second prize $500, third prize $250 as well as a photography prize of $100 and a People’s Choice Prize of $100 which will be named on the Sunday afternoon.
Art workshops will also be held on the Saturday and Sunday, run by professional artists Leone Gabriel and Christine West-Smith who will conduct figure drawing and painting classes.
Bookings are essential via the Ruffy community website listed above. Places are limited so be quick. Enquiries are welcome and should be directed to Robyn Sheehan on 5790 3275.
