Theatre arts in four parts

Euroa Gazette - - FRONT PAGE - By GRACE EVANS

EUROA Little Theatre is coming back to a stage nearby, as they prepare for their “Theatrical Arts in Four Parts”.

The team will return to the stage at the School House at Euroa Primary School on Friday November 2 at 7.30pm, Saturday November 3 at 7.30pm and Sunday November 4 at 2pm.

There will be four performances throughout the night including two live performances ‘Live, Interrupted’ by the junior cast and ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ by the senior cast.

Along with the live performances will be a special screening of the performances from the 2018 ARKfest Short Play Festival, with all the plays written by Euroa’s very own Ally Hayes.

President Marg Watters has said she is looking forward to putting on another show for the community of Euroa.

“It’s just a way of enjoying yourself and hopefully in your enjoyment of putting something on, you’re giving pleasure to others,” Mrs Watters said.

Offering acting workshops and set design making workshops, Mrs Watters said the group of 20 members are keen for anyone to get on board with the group.

“We are hoping to be able to put on a couple more things per year, rather than just one thing a year,” she said.

With her upcoming pieces set to go out to the community, playwright Ally Hayes said her inspiration comes from whatever she is doing or reading at that time.

“Sometimes I might start with a concept or genre I want to try, other times someone will say something or I’ll read a line and it will just click something in me and I grab a scrap of paper and start frantically writing before I lose the idea,” she said.

One of the live performances will be performed by an all junior cast and Miss Hayes said she felt the kids’ play is important because she wants to increase interest from the younger generation in town in Theatre.

“As long as people want to keep performing I’m happy to keep writing for them,” she said.

“We’re not a big club and we don’t take ourselves too seriously so be prepared for a few laughs.”

‘Live, Interrupted’ will follow a band set to do their final rehearsal before a live performance, with a manager that wants everything to run to plan, and a band that have other ideas.

‘Choose your Own Adventure’ is about a young hero that embarks on a dangerous quest to complete three impossible tasks to win the princess’ hand

Tickets will be made available on the door, with concession at $7.50 and full at $12.

MAKING AN ENTRANCE: Ally Hayes, Ayden Cullen and Marg Watters in last year’s play “Sir Kenneth Shortcuts” written by Euroa Theatre Company member Susan Bennett.
