U3A calls out for members

Euroa Gazette - - NEWS -

U3A Euroa is a vibrant, relatively new community group in Euroa.

In four years it has attracted over 80 members, all of whom are keen to keep active and engaged in our local community.

Over 14 activities are offered and more are in the pipeline for 2019.

The activities vary in order to be able to include active and less physically active members of the community.

These include bushwalking, family history, wellness, health, fun games group, as well as more challenging subjects like religion, philosopher’s forum, Shakespeare and astronomy.

All activities and courses are run by members who have a special interest in the subject, but without formal qualifications.

Formally the U3A was known as the University of the Third Age but we have found that this confused people a lot, being that we have nothing to do with university.

Expect by way of using the way of the true meaning of university, which originally meant coming together and sharing your knowledge, life skills and interests.

Euroa Health Inc has been a wonderful spot to U3A in allowing us to use their Conference Room with all its great facilities, as a home base, with most courses now held there.

U3A Euroa is very appreciative of their ongoing generosity and interest in supporting a community group.

Emphasis is on shared learning, fun and friendship in an informal and relaxed atmosphere.

Many new friendships have been formed and for newcomers to Euroa it is a wonderful chance to meet others.

New members are always welcome and can contact either Sue van Lunenburg 0438 989 563 or Bill Douglas 0415 815 834 for further information.
