Junior coaches appointed at Euroa Football Netball Club
WITH football season not long drawing to a close, it’ll be back before we know it, with Euroa Junior Football Netball Club making sure they’re prepared with their appointment of four new junior footy coaches for 2019.
President Andrew Hill made the announcement last week, confirming the appointment of Jon Reid for coach of under 12s, Andrew Hamilton for assistant coach of under 14s, Jason Wilson for coach of under 14s and Scott Watson for coach of under 16s.
The club are still on the hunt for an under 10 football coach, along with under 11, under 13 and under 15 netball coaches and are welcoming anyone to put their hand up.
They are also still looking for someone to step up and coach their youth girls’ team, which has been a great achievement for Euroa, having females travel from as far as Jamieson to play in the side.
The junior club did a power of work in getting the team up and running at Euroa, with president Andrew Hill saying they are super happy to support anyone willing to take on the role.
All coaches at the club have undergone or will undergo a specific AFL training course, which is completed through AFL Goulburn Murray.
With 160 kids at the Junior Football Netball Club, Mr Hill said it’s huge for not only the club but also the community to be able to continue providing Sunday sport for these kids.
“We usually get around high 20s in the football teams and netball is always super popular for our juniors,” Mr Hill said.
“Sundays are really busy with five games of football it’s great to be able to do it.”
Assistant coach of Under 14s, Andrew Hamilton is new to the coaching field, with this his first time putting his hand up to help out with a side.
“I’m really looking forward to being a part of it and just learning while keeping it fun and engaging for the kids,” Mr Hamilton said.
All of the coaches have kids playing in the side, and Jon Hill is no stranger to the game having coached 36 kids in last year’s Under 14 side.
President of the senior Football Netball Club and under 16s coach Scott Watson said it’s a great opportunity to be given to coach a side.
“It’s very much about participation and getting enough people to play in the side,” Mr Watson said.
If you want to be a part of the club, coaching any of the available teams, all enquiries can be made to Andrew Hill. EUROA JUNIOR FOOTBALL NETBALL CLUB By GRACE EVANS
