Roads funding for several towns
LABOR candidate for Euroa Fionna Deppeler-Morton attended last week’s sports centre funding announcement saying we really need to make sure we have good infrastructure for our kids to get out and about.
“This is an example of our ageing infrastructure in regional areas and we need to make sure that we are supporting our kids getting off screens,” Ms Deppeler-Morton said.
“The community has really rallied together on this project and the $200,000 is a start and we are aware there is a lot more to be done.”.
Roads were also a topic of discussion, with a series of Strathbogie Shire Roads set for upgrades.
Ms Symes announced $500,000 last Thursday so works could get underway, with projects including Coombs Road in Mangalore, Zanelli Road in Nagambie and Moormbool Road in Graytown.
Works will include a variety of different pavement and reseal rehabilitation.
“We know how important road safety is to country Victorians and that is why Labor is investing in local projects identified by the Shire to make our roads safer,” Ms Symes said.
These initiatives follow the biggest road maintenance blitz in regional Victoria, with $333 million invested this year to repair, rebuild and resurface 1500 kilometres of country roads.
