Sum­mer drown­ing toll up­date

I WISH to no­tify your read­ers that Royal Life Saving will be track­ing and pro­vid­ing reg­u­lar up­dates on the drown­ing toll over sum­mer.

Two in five drown­ing deaths oc­cur in sum­mer, with Royal Life Saving research in­di­cat­ing an in­creased risk of drown­ing for chil­dren when on school hol­i­days and for adults dur­ing pub­lic hol­i­days.

Last sum­mer, the Royal Life Saving Na­tional Drown­ing Re­port recorded 103 drown­ing deaths around the coun­try.

With the warmer weather ap­proach­ing, Royal Life Saving is com­mit­ted to com­mu­ni­cat­ing with the pub­lic about the in­creased risk of drown­ing in our rivers, lakes, beaches and swim­ming pools and how peo­ple can en­joy the wa­ter safely in the warmer months and across the fes­tive sea­son.

Across the 2018/19 Aus­tralian Sum­mer, Royal Life Saving will again be track­ing drown­ing around the coun­try.
