SPORT The Euroa Gazette, Wednesday, December 12, 2018, Page 21 GAZETTE Sports EUROA CLAY TARGET CLUB By JOHN KING THE Euroa Clay Target Club conducted their annual Christmas shoot on Sunday, December 9. With entries well up on previous years, it was a full day’s shooting and despite several delays with approaching thunder and lightning, the program was completed and presentations awarded just in time to avoid the worst of the rain. Christmas prizes were on offer with turkeys, hams and Christmas hampers awarded to the successful shooters. The program began with the North East Zone Deauville Doubles Championship and it was the Euroa pair, Tony Rohrlach and Paul McKendrick who shot the only possible 20/20 to collect the sashes and turkey prizes. Ruffy opening bat, Ian Ferguson, was 23 not out against the strong Tamleugh attack. Digger’s International pace bowler Harry Alexander ripped through the Strathbogie line up with 5/22. B Grade trundler Ian Dudley for Euroa Juniors snaffled five Violet Town wickets for only 20 runs. 1956 - The Strathbogie B Graders were rolled for only nine runs in their second innings to lose outright to Miepoll. A. Gough, 5/3, and Bill Ick, 5/3, did the damage. 2001 - Paling Bats medium pacer, Aaron Hinss, took five Wanderers wickets for only 19 runs off 15 very tight overs. CRICKET Euroa Cricket Club A Grade EUROA defeated by Nagambie 1st Innings: Euroa 162: Batting: D Redfern 60, L Paul 36, S Hemeter 24 1st Innings: Nagambie 261: Bowling: B Gleeson 5/62, N Dowell 1/18, F Paul 1/18 B Grade EUROA once again made the long trek to Undera on a warm overcast day. Chasing 225, Euroa openers J Ellis (51) and K Robertson (8) made a strong start. Euroa’s middle orders all got a good start but were unable to turn it into a big score. Strong signs from the younger brigade of batters with J Frewin (21), N Burke (19) and L Hill (23) all looking more than comfortable facing the Undera quicks. With one batsman down, Euroa ran out of batsmen and time. Next week Euroa take on Kyabram at the Memorial Oval. Euroa 9/199 lost to Undera 225.
