Steve Crawcour says it’s time to move on from shire
WITH Strathbogie Shire Council’s chief executive officer contract concluding on November 19 this year, Steve Crawcour has announced he will not be reapplying for the role.
The announcement will conclude seven years in the role for Mr Crawcour, saying he is proud of what he and the organisation have been able to achieve.
“A good leader knows when it’s time to move on and give a new incoming CEO the opportunity to build on what has been achieved to date,” Mr Crawcour said.
“When I started as CEO I had a vision to make the Strathbogie Shire financially viable with a strong, efficient and effective workforce and, together with my outstanding team, I believe we have delivered on this.”
Mr Crawcour was reappointed CEO by his fellow councillors back in April last year, despite backlash from community members that the position was not advertised first.
Mayor Amanda McClaren said council respects Mr Crawcour’s decision not to reapply for his position and acknowledges all he has done for the shire’s communities during his time with council.
“Council is committed to finding a candidate who is the best possible fit for the Strathbogie Shire to continue to build on the legacy that will be left by Mr Crawcour,” Cr McClaren said.
“We are also committed to undertaking a very thorough recruitment process and will keep the community informed along the way.”
Council will now commence the recruitment process to replace Mr Crawcour, announcing the help of recruitment company Omera Partners to help guide them through the process.
Five short- listed companies were selected to present to council after councillors held workshops assessing 18 different recruitment companies.
Omera Partners was selected at the last Ordinary Council Meeting after considering the five candidates’ and their presentations.
Strathbogie Shire Mayor Amanda McClaren said council are looking forward to sitting down with Omera Partners to start workshopping and identifying the attributes we’re looking for in our next CEO.
Despite the announcement of his departure Mr Crawcour said he is looking forward to leading the organisation to deliver as much for our communities as possible during his final leg as CEO.
Council have also said Steve was pivotal in steering Council into a sustainable financial position with an organisational culture to match.
