106th birthday celebrations for Euroa resident

-

A SPECIAL celebration was held at Euroa’s Granite Hill care facility resident Jean Hodges, who turned celebrated her 106th birthday this past weekend.

Ms Hodges family were there to take part in the celebrations with a cake along and a happy birthday singalong by local singer Di Mackrell.

Daughter in law Thelma Hodges said the event was a wonderful occasion and thanked the aged care facility for the cake.

“She’s lived in Strathbogie for 34 years and been here at Euroa for about ten years and just loves her gardening,” Thelma Hodges said.

“She loves the CWA and up until a year ago kept on being involved in Vision Australia meetings too.

“There is a wonderful active aspect of her life and is quite a pioneer lady.”

Thelma also believes her mother-in-law’s secret to longevity was her ability to look out and care for others,

“Her friendliness and taking people under her wing helped her out in her life passions as well,” Thelma Hodges said.

The gathering saw relatives come from Tasmania to celebrate the occasion with a large get together at Albert’s Cafe on Sunday.
