Tracks and Travel......

Where to go on your bike which tracks to go and have a blast on!

I know it’s not the most exotic location in the world, but after spending last weekend in Wales I had to write in to say that I might just have found biking perfection. After a rough week I decided to disappear for a few days, so I left work on the Friday and blasted up the M54 with no particular place in mind. Because the clocks had changed I managed to get a few hours under my belt before I got to anywhere interesting. I just went straight, and ended up on the A548, which was a good road and encouraging for the weekend ahead. Before I knew it, I was in Dolgellau – how did that happen? Anyway, I found decent digs and decided to go north on Saturday then go south on Sunday – after buying a toothbrush, toothpaste and deodorant from the local Spar! Saturday was ace. There were lots of bikes about, so I spent a few hours following a group on sportsbikes, with me on my Street Triple acting as tailgunner – they didn’t seem to mind! Snowdonia is great, but the main roads were getting a bit busy, so I turned off to go up a few back roads; some were great, others not! I finished with a lap around Snowdon on the A4086 and A498 as thesun went down – perfect. On Sunday, I followed the coast to St Davids, but then I realised I’d bitten off more than I could chew. I was determined not use the motorway, so went back to Brum on the A40 to Llandovery, up the 483 to Builth Wells, cut across to the A44 to Leominster and then trundled back on the A456 through Kidderminster and home. I was knackered when Monday came around, but it was just what I needed to lift the soul again! Sorry there are no photos, I didn’t even take my phone!
