BJ: THE TWO-STROKES
Getting to thrash around on a Yamaha RD500 and TZR250 RC was sheer bliss for me; a real trip down memory lane and a reminder that had manufacturers kept making 250 or 500cc two-strokes, only a wild imagination could conjure up exactly what modern iterations would be like in 2016. It also helped soothe the fact I had to pass on the chance to ride the actual first modern stroker in years, the Suter MMX500, to Dangerous Bruce due to a mate’s wedding clashing. Yes, he’s a good mate! Bastard… Anyway, these two old ladies proved there’s life in the formula yet even decades on. Buy a good example of either and you won’t be disappointed. I just wish I could afford one! Kidney, anyone?
