LAST CORNER, LAST LAP
Imagine the scenario: you’re racing with your brother in the British MotoGP in front of a capacity crowd and you’ve been battling all race long but now he’s just in front. One corner remains and there’s the tiniest of gaps which could be the opportunity to win, but more likely the move would bring both of you down in a blaze of dust rather than glory. Do you go for it and risk everything or do you leave him to pick up the victory?
Sam Lowes:
“Yes, probably! If there’s a gap, then whether it’s Alex or anyone else, I’d go for it but perhaps subconsciously, because it’s him, I might not but last corner and a chance to win, I’m not going to pass that opportunity by. He’d do it to me.”
Alex Lowes:
“I’d have a go and sort it out afterwards… You’d have to, wouldn’t you? I’d probably forget it was Sam and treat it like any other guy but I wouldn’t pull a move if it was too risky on anyone.”
Tim Neave:
“100% yes. If I’ve been sat on him in the race and there was half a gap, then yes but what I wouldn’t do was take a lunge from a mile off. But being honest, yes, I think I’d have to do it…”
TomNeave:
“I’ve actually done it. We were at a test day earlier in the season and Tim had held me up a bit so I decided to make a move on him on a corner and ended up clipping his back wheel. I crashed and he carried on with my tyre up his leathers.”
Taylor Mackenzie:
“Oh, you’d lift him… Definitely lift him…”
Tarren Mackenzie:
“Whoever it was, whether it’s your brother or not, you’d have to have a go. If it didn’t work out we’d have a proper argument afterwards and call each other idiots no doubt.”
