Well, thankfully a good ol’ fashioned revival, as it looks like all is well in the world of screaming sixes – which is bloody handy as I don’t think my heart could handle losing another race series. Rumour has it that the Asian market is starting to fancy bigger capacity bikes than the sub-400cc offerings they’re currently nailing through the streets in mahoosive numbers, which means that all of a sudden there looks to be a reboot on the horizon. This is why there’s a new ZX-6R out next year, (although yet to be confirmed as eligible for WSBK) and strong rumours of both a new CBR600RR from Honda and GSX-R600 from Suzuki; so things are only going to get tighter, surely?
And it’s not just that, as it looks like the head honchos from the racing world are keen to carry on the legacy. So we caught up with the biggest names (who’d answer the phone to us) in order to explain the world of Supersport better than we ever could… just.
