R&G’s support of BSB is not all a one way street, thanks to the fact that the feedback and product testing from riders has resulted in an extremely effective testing regime – all of which filters down to us regular folk. This is great, as this time they’ve nailed their own waterproof jacket and trousers.

Sold separately, the jacket (£39.99) and trousers (£35.99) are a perfect combo to keep you dry in even the heaviest downpours. Competing at a recent club meet I got the opportunity to test the full combination in pouring rain and through spray without getting even remotely damp. The suit is clear so that you can show off your sponsors’ logos (or novice bib in my case), the trousers have cut-outs for wet sliders (pictured R&G £31.50), and for the perfect fit they come equipped with Velcro fastenings at the bottom of the ¾ legs and an elasticated waist band. All seams are taped on the trouser and jacket, the latter boasting zipped cuffs to go over glove gauntlets and zip up front with stretch panels aiding the perfect fit. A crotch strap holds the two pieces snugly together.

Each item comes in a handy pouch which would fit in any kit bag and for me this suit was invaluable. As the sun broke that afternoon I was in dry leathers, as opposed to a dank, heavy and sodden full piece leather suit. As an added bonus my low speed off at the hairpin saw this suit take the brunt of the slide, leaving not a scratch on my RSTs. Not what they are designed for of course, just a nice bonus to also being kept bone dry.
