Fast Bikes

LEE WESTON

I OWN ONE

-

I had this bike just over a year now and it suits me down to the ground. I had been out of biking for a little while and before I got it I looked at faster, more modern stuff but I rely on my licence for work so I thought getting a 400 would be a great way to still have fun but stay on the right side of the law. My mate had an FZR in the mid-90s and I remember being really jealous so when I saw this one advertised for £1,200 I couldn’t resist. It needs a bit of fettling so over winter I’m going to sort the carbs and get the EXUP valve fixed but it has never broken down or failed to start since I bought it, which I was a bit worried about when buying an older bike.

When I got it the shock was knackered, so I put an R6 shock (out of Jack Kennedy’s 2018 British Supersport bike) in and it has been great. The bike handles absolutely incredibly whether buzzing round the Yorkshire Dales or on track. Last time I took it on track was at Cadwell Park and my mate with a Ducati 999 was holding me up like you wouldn’t believe through all the twisty stuff. I’m not the tallest bloke in the world, so the physical size of the bike suits me (my taller mates aren’t keen) but it does get a bit cramped on longer rides.
