Fast Bikes

RICHARD ADAMS

I OWN ONE

-

This was actually bought by my son, Aaron, years ago as his first road bike. He went for the VFR as we thought it would be a great little starter bike, not too fast and not too big – but with a little bit more power than your modern 125cc bikes as he had done a lot of off-road riding so didn’t want something too slow. And he got it for a really good price, too. Anyway, after a few years he wanted something bigger so I swapped my VTR1000 for it so now he rides that and I own the VFR. And I love it.

It makes me laugh every time I ride it and see the needle flying round all the way to 14,000rpm

– I’ve never ever ridden anything that wants to rev so much, it’s absolutely fantastic. Not long after Aaron bought it, he was flying down the road on it and a plastic weld that has been done to repair some damage on the body work failed and he lost a panel, so we bought the kit that is on it from China, all painted and stickered up – the only problem is that it says RVF rather than VFR on it, but than that its mint. It’s completely standard and other than a few problems with the fuelling, it has been a mega reliable bike all the time that Aaron and I have owned it. It might not be the fastest bike out there but it has definitely got plenty of character.

?? ?? A proper dancer... the VFR wasn’t bad, either.
