ENGINE

The new boxer engine has gone through a whole host of updates, not least of which is the inclusion BMW ShiftCam Technology which allows variable valve timing, altering the valve lift and duration, on the intake side of things. The cams are also designed to open the intake valves slightly out of sync with each other, to improve the ‘swirl’ of the incoming fuel mixture resulting in more effective combustion. The camshafts are now driven by a toothed wheel and the oil supply, the fuel injection valves and the exhaust system are all now. The upgrades result in more power, more torque, a delivery of power and better fuel economy.
