Hicky has been a busy boy

Where to begin this month?! March has been really busy and, for the first time in a while, it feels a bit more like normal. By the time you’re reading this, full lockdown should have ended (hopefully) and you’ll have been out enjoying your bikes in some decent weather!

At the start of the month I’d just got back from Spain, where I was out on my own riding a range of bikes including my BMW S 1000 RR Stocker and Ohvale GP0 Evo 190. While I have been focusing on my training over this winter with cycling and conditioning, there really is no substitute for getting your ass on a bike. It was a mega couple of weeks spent keeping my eye in, ready for the year ahead!

I’ve got my first race coming up on April 3, a nonChampionship Ohvale race which I’m really looking forward to! It’s only a bit of fun (until I put my helmet on), but it will be great to see some familiar faces and go racing! Things are flat-out on the Ohvale side of things actually, as we’re shortly going to be welcoming a brand new model to the UK – their first 12in wheel option, the Ohvale GP-2 – alongside gearing up for the start of the 2021 Ohvale UK Cup.

The FIM also recently announced its Ohvale Mini GP World series too, so we’ll have some more info on what that means for the UK riders very soon.

This month also saw the start of the BSB season pushed back a little, but it’s for a positive reason as it means we’ll finally be racing in front of you fans! I really can’t wait to have people back trackside and cheering us on. It hasn’t been the same without you.

I’m currently working with Weise, Suomy, Five and Daytona on my final designs for my leathers, helmet, gloves and boots, which you should all be seeing shortly… maybe even by the time you read this!

The FHO Racing team are based just around the corner from me, so I’ve also been spending a fair bit of time with them. They’re very busy getting the new M 1000 RR bikes ready, and they’ve been making lots of bespoke parts for myself and Xavi to help us get more comfortable on the bike. I can’t wait to get out there and get testing.

Away from the racing, we’ve been mega busy at PHR Performance, working on everything from a 2018 R1 full build to our usual crop of BMWs. We’ve also been putting lots of effort into my new unit, which you’ll see soon. We really are going to be a one-stop shop for people, with an engine tuning room, suspension set-up, workshop, dyno and even graphics.

We’re also working with a local paint shop who do our Superbikes, so it means customers can come to us with a road bike and walk away with a full race machine!

The new unit should be up and running soon, so if you’re looking to get your bike prepped, get in touch with us on 01507 622973 or through my socials.

I hope you all have a great month and hopefully I’ll be able to see some of you very soon!
