Finally, back out on two wheels

-

Well folks, we’re another month closer to summer and finally things are starting to get back to being a little bit more normal... bloody brilliant. Bring back the days when we can have spectators enjoying the racing, and I can nip down the local for a few beers after a hard days’ graft (or sunbathing).

Unfortunately for me, I’m going to have to wait a while until I can spend some time chilling out in a pub garden. I really don’t think I’ve ever had so much on or been so flat-out, and we don’t even have the TT on this year!

As trackday season has started again, it would’ve been rude not to head out for a spin – and yep, I finally get to dust the cobwebs off with a day at Cadwell. It was absolutely bloody freezing though. In fact, it was so cold I ended up using intermediate tyres.

There were a lot of quick lads out and a lot of experienced riders that hit the deck, so I just did what needed to be done and parked it – that was more than enough. It was the first time on the BMW since the engine was given some TLC by PHR and it felt really strong, which was ace. I’ve still got a few more bits to make it perfect, but I’m really happy with how it’s come out.

Don’t ask about our CF Moto bikes though – we’re still waiting on a few parts. They should’ve been ready by now, so it’s looking like they’ll miss the first round of No Limits. It’s a shame but it’s better to have them spot-on, and it sounds like everyone’s having the same issues so I’m not too worried.

Oh, but I’m still a very lucky boy as I’ve just taken delivery of a shiny new box from Suomy in Italy, with a couple of new lids for the year – and my god, they have knocked it out of the ballpark.

I really like these Suomys; they look smart and have protected my noggin well on a number of occasions. If you’re in the market for a new melon protector, it comes with a serious seal of approval.

Until next month, it’s back to business for me. On top of all of the racing stuff, I’m currently emptying all of my bits out of our kitchen, conservatory and garage at home. The fiancée came up with a great idea that we should knock it all down and start again with some home renovation, so I’ve decided to go along with it.

Bad move. Having emptied what feels like tonnes of shit out, it’s just started to rain. And we haven’t even started with the building work yet… just typical!
