I’ll admit I almost passed out when I saw the price of this helmet, but any questions of value for money soon dispersed once I had the Pista in my hands. It is a thing of beauty, especially in the matt finish where you get to clearly see the beauty of its 100% carbon fibre shell construction. The design is something else, and the weight of the product is also impressive (1450grams).
I can’t remember the last time I wore an AGV, so it was new territory for me and a feel I had to get used to. As well as being lightweight, it’s also really well vented, which wasn’t always a good thing on our chilly USB test. The extreme venting also meant the Pista was on the noisier side, and I wasn’t a fan of the internal chin adjuster for the front vent, as it proved a mission to put my finger on when riding.
On a positive note, the peripheral vision was exemplary and I found the system to change visors intuitive and quick.
The more I used the AGV, the more I came to like it for more than just its looks, as it actually proved very comfortable throughout the course of hundreds of miles clocked and countless hours of use. This lid really came into its own when I was on the track, which is arguably its natural habitat… as the OE fitment drinks tube suggested. It’s a feature that seemed a little over-the-top for me, but maybe that’s because it’s not normally too scorchio in Lincolnshire.
