WHAT DO YOU GET IF YOU TAKE THE UK’S MOST FAMOUS MOTORSPORT VENUE, ADD THOUSANDS OF BADASS CARS, INVITE THOUSANDS OF PETROLHEADS, AND SPRINKLE IT LIBERALLY WITH LIVE ACTION? YEP, YOU GET…
Can TRAX get any bigger? One thing’s for sure, our stand couldn’t. #Rammed
TRAX 2018, sponsored by MMR Performance, lived up to its tag line of being the ultimate performance car event as it charged into Silverstone for a feast of automotive fun! Thousands of fans descended on the British home of motorsport for the season-closing extravaganza of all things performance.
With event favourites like the Auto Finesse Show and Shine competition, to on-track action from the brilliant British Drift Championship team, there wasn’t a quiet moment as TRAX took over.
The track was constantly busy with showgoers taking on the twists and turns of one of the world’s most famous circuits and TRAX just wouldn’t be TRAX without some smoke and the British Drift Championship certainly didn’t disappoint.
The VIBE Audio Village was a big hit with visitors checking out the latest audio tech, while the retail village was packed full of people looking for that last bit of trim for their car. The magazine paddocks gave fans a chance to have a chat with the editor of their favourite periodical and feast their eyes on some brilliant feature cars.
It was another mega day and raised the bar again for TRAX. And we know the Fast Car Entertainment team are working to make the show even better next year. Roll on 2019…
Nankang Track Time
Silverstone’s circuit wasn’t given a moments rest all day. If it wasn’t the British Drift Championship going sideways through Brooklands, Luffield and Woodcote, it was the public putting their skills and cars through their paces on the legendary 1.6-mile National track.
Turbosmart Sprint Test
One of the biggest attractions at this year’s show was the Turbosmart Sprint Test. We know this first-hand because the fire-up lane ran parallel to the Fast Car stand and it was packed. So congratulations to the below winners in the most competitive competition to date:
Hydroshot Wash Bay
One of the main questions we get asked on the morning of a show is where to get water from for people to wash their cars? Well, this year we went one better and pointed them in the direction of the WORX Hydroshot Wash Bay! The Hydroshot is a portable, battery-powered pressure washer, which is an ideal addition to your show kit bag. Morning show washes will never be the same again.
Win a Car…
Since early spring 2018 we’ve been restoring and modifying a 350Z to give away at TRAX. We are good to our word, because the 350Z has a new name on the log book and that name is Robert Spurgeon. Congratulations Robert, we hope you enjoy the car. The best £3 you’ve ever spent? We’ll take that as a yes!
The 3M Wrap Tour
The guys at 3M decided TRAX would be the perfect place to wrap-up (sorry, not sorry) their Wrap Tour, which saw 14 of 3M’s best Authorised Vehicle Wrappers tour the UK in vehicles wrapped specially to highlight the best that modern vehicle wrapping has to offer.
On the final day of the event-filled, 665-mile trip, nine of the vehicles joined us on the Fast Car stand. Showgoers then had the opportunity to get up close and personal with the cars before voting for their favourite vehicle, which included everything from sports cars and vans to a classic roadster, all wrapped using the latest 3M products.
The winner was Ben Hamblin, owner of Wrap Kings in Cradley Heath, West Midlands. He was presented with a trophy and crowned the 3M Wrap Tour Champion 2018 for his car’s wrap, which used products from the IJ180mC series of print wrap films by 3M. Ben’s van was also voted in at third place.
“TRAX Silverstone was the perfect way to end what has been an amazing five days,” said Pen Webley, marketing manager for 3M’s Commercial Solutions division. “Visitors were stunned to see what leading vehicle wrappers can achieve using 3M’s innovative product range.”
The tour began at 3M’s UK headquarters in Bracknell, Berkshire. Stops included Baltic Square, in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, where the fleet formed a public exhibition, and Santa Pod Raceway, in Wellingborough, Northampton, where it went on show during the National Drag Racing Championship Finals.
“The 3M Wrap Tour has been an amazing way to celebrate the fantastic talents of some of our AVWs, who are among the best in their profession,” added Pen.
“Everyone seems to have had a great time and their vehicles have been getting a lot of attention. Now the AVWs can all enjoy some well-earned rest.”
Fast Car #FC400
In a show packed full of highlights, we produced one of our best show displays to date with our #FC400 collection. It was a huge gathering of jaw-droppingly cool cars brought together to celebrate Fast Car’s 400th issue.
From Supras to Skylines, BMWs to Boxsters and basically everything in between, the sprawling display proved to be a major hit with showgoers. Roll the pictures…
Show and Shine
As always the Auto Finesse Show and Shine competition brought together 20 pristine cars from all warps of car culture and sponsors Auto Finesse had a tough job deciding the winner, but this accolade went to Keith Brownsell’s immaculate classic Mini – a worthy winner! Enjoy the goodies.
And the Winners are…
Like always there were a lot of awards up for grabs at this year’s event and an emphasis was put on the club stands, which make up such a large part of the show. So two thumbs fresh go to Limitless UK for winning the Best Club Stand Award, Caddy Club UK for scooping the Best One-Model Club Display and to Midlands Smart Club for taking home the Best Regional Club award.
