Welcome to the March ISSUE!
There are very few mods that work as effectively on old Fords as they do on new Fords. Wheels, paint colours, and interior upgrades are largely constrained by the car’s age. But there is one modification that transcends the normal boundaries, and works no matter what era the car is from – I’m talking about wide arches!
We’ve got a couple of fantastically flared cars in this issue from complete opposite ends of the spectrum, with some surprising similarities. Firstly we’ve got this issue’s cover car – an exceptionally cool Mk3 Escort from Germany ( page 50). Contrast that with Tarnock Garage’s Mk7 Fiesta ST ( page 32). Both are rapid three- door hatches, both have around 200bhp, and both look fantastic. And there the similarities end. The Escort features an ultra-trick, ultra-rare 16V CVH engine, whereas the Fiesta has Mountune’s much lauded MP215 conversion. The Escort’s bodywork is a mixture of custom, and unobtainable. The Fiesta’s is ‘off-the-shelf’ and can be specified on a brand-new ST, or retro fitted to any Mk7 Fiesta. 30 years may separate these two cars, and in many ways they’re poles apart – but they both look superb! Equally superb is Benny McCaffery’s 3- door Sierra ( page 12). It’s one of the cleanest Cossie’s around and it sits pretty much perfectly over a set of rare OZ alloys. It may not have huge amounts of power, but it goes to show that you can build a fantastic feature car without having to have a million bhp!
Elsewhere in the issue you’ll find a massive feature on the legend that is the GT40 and another one of our ‘Ultimate Guides’, this time on the rapid little Fiesta RS Turbo.
I hope you enjoy this issue of Fast Ford!
