It’s an exciting time for Ford fans. Whether you’re ‘into’ new cars or not, you can’t help but be impressed by Ford’s recent releases. Not only have Ford launched the incredible 123bhp 1.0, 3- cylinder Fiesta, that puts all the competitor’s ‘Eco’ engines to shame, they’ve also revised the excellent Focus ST ( see page 8 for the full lowdown). There are also exciting rumours that there will be an all new RS model announced before too long. We’ve been told a few ‘facts’ by an insider but, for now, our lips are sealed.

So what does all this have to do with Fast Ford? Well, there’s no denying that there are less iconic fast Fords on the roads than there were 5 years ago. And in 5 years time there will be less still... Even more will become pampered show queens brought out of their heated garages solely for shows and sunny days. So the future of the fast Ford scene is the cars that are coming out now! They’re the cars that the tuners are currently tinkering away with, and they will become increasingly common sights both in the mag, and on the roads. We have a couple of prime examples in this issue including the Tjin edition Focus ST in superb Gulf Livery ( page 58), and Sitech’s ‘boundary-pushing’ Fiesta ST ( page 44). But if all this talk of new technology makes you want to run to your garage to stroke a set of Whitworth spanners, we’ve got our share of awesome old school motors in this issue too – not least Jon Mansell’s stunning 3- door Cossie on the cover! While modern motors may be technologically superior in pretty much every area, there will always be something about a pukka Cossie that gets pulses racing the way no new car could ever do. So while we encourage you to celebrate Fords latest offerings, we’ll also carry on worshipping Ford’s legendary icons!

Enjoy the mag.
