The Midlands STOC get over 90 cars together for their recent meet at Kingsbury Water Park!

We join the Midlands STOC crew for their meet.

It all started when a group of mates thought it’d be a good idea to organise a small local get-together. It ended when the best part of a hundred Fords arrived at Kingsbury Water Park in the Midlands on a sunny Sunday morning. The friends in question were Sam Hewitt, Tom Chapman, Nicky Cullen, and Chris Cotterill who all met through the Fiesta STOC.

When Tom subsequently traded up to a Focus ST, and joined the Focus STOC, the friends were struck by an idea. “We made a group called the Midlands STOC, and then we advertised the group through Facebook. It wasn’t that we wanted to steal members from the other groups but to unite them all,” says Sam.

“We started off with about twenty people saying they’d come along, but as the weeks have gone on, we realised we were going to have about 100 cars. We just wanted to get as many different Fords as we could. It took us three weeks to get it all together.”

People had travelled from all over the Midlands, with naturally the highest concentration coming from the surrounding North Birmingham area. Heavy rain the previous evening had left the show field slightly waterlogged, but on the day, the weather stayed fine and cars on display ranged from Mk2 XR2s and S2 RSTs, right through to the current range.

“It’s been a real great turn out,” says Tom. “We were hoping for 40 cars, to double the amount we’ve had at previous events, but over 90 have come today.” So a great event and there are plenty more planned from this new group.
